NYC actually boasts one of the best vegan food scenes in the world. It has a whopping 27,000 restaurants and 150 eateries that are plant-based and offer a wide range of food. For the vegan who has had enough of the cliche small-town vegan options, this is a dream come true.
When you first visit you can be totally gobsmacked by all the options you have. But, what really tickled my fancy when I went to New York was their selection of bakeries.
In any other place, you might struggle to find a decent vegan bakery, but New York was seemingly covered in them in comparison. Grabbing a vegan breakfast in New York or just a treat couldn’t be easier!
I won’t let you live in the dark, come with me as I reminisce about the best vegan bakeries in New York City!
Best Vegan Bakery New York City
New York is pretty much a goldmine for vegans, with a 5.5% higher average of vegan eaters than anywhere else in the U.S. They have a good 150 vegan pastry shops and restaurants, with countless restaurants that offer vegan food even if they are not strictly vegan.
With an open, inviting, accepting culture in the city towards vegans, it couldn’t be better. So, I could not choose just one place to call best, instead, I picked out my top 4 places, and then some specialty places.

My First Choice: Happy Zoe Vegan Bakery

It’s pretty hard to find a good vegan cheesecake, but Happy Zoe in NYC makes it easy. You can find this bakery offers some of the best vegan cheesecakes out there. You might be seeking out a basic cake or something more elaborate and exotic.
If you have a hunger for some cookies, angel food cake, cinnamon rolls, and even coffee cake, they offer all these as well. Each cake here is a work of art, the vegan special edition vanilla strawberry cake with chocolate chip cookies and fresh strawberries is the best by far though.
If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to be.

Best Dish: Matcha Cream Crunch / Persimmon Pie.
Opening Hours: Monday: CLOSED, Tuesday – Sunday: 12pm – 6pm.
You can find this place in the Manhattan Lower East Side. It is very guilt-free and is one of the best places to get yourself a decadent vegan treat from ice cream sandwiches to pies and cakes and more.
Things do not look vegan there, but that’s just the ticket, they are so well done, it surprises you to find out it all is vegan! While it is great to finally get your mitts on a vegan ice cream sandwich, I 100% recommend their persimmon pie, it’s unique and you won’t get it anywhere else!
#3. Clementine Bakery

Best Dish: Peanut Butter Blondies.
Opening Hours: Everyday: 8:30am – 6:00pm
Clementine Bakery is in Brooklyn, they offer you pies, cookies, and cakes. Honestly, their pies are the best, but if you want something subtle try the Peanut Butter Blondies.
You can also get more here, they offer deli favorites, pizzas, and sandwiches, so you can grab a treat, or your whole dinner here. It’s also a grocery store, and they sell vegan home goods and even plants. It’s a bit of everything, but that is what drew me in.
#4. Bleu Neige Vegan Pâtisserie

Best Dish: Vegan Blue Ocean Cake 7”/ Vegan pineapple coconuts cupcake 4 pieces.

Don’t get me started on their cakes, I won’t shut up. Oh my god! They are amazing, it is a new bakery and they sure know what they’re doing, I’ve never before seen such artistic vegan cakes. But they do more, cupcakes, cookies, donuts and more. It is everything you want and more.
I luckily needed a full scale cake, and this patisserie did me justice with this cake! However, if you want a little bite, I recommend the pineapple coconuts cupcakes, they’re something quite special.

Innocent yesterday is a totally plant-based eatery, and they have 2 menus. One menu is for their restaurant where you can get their buttermilk biscuits & gravy, and a buffalo mac & cheese, all vegan. The other is for their bakery.
Their bakery offers some truly delicious cupcakes, croissants, cakes, conuts, cookies, and more. Check it out for yourself.
Vegan Bakery NYC Delivery
Out of all the many places in New York, there are two places where we have mentioned that deliver. But, the one I was most focused on was Happy Zoe Vegan Bakery. This place actually does deliver.
So, not only are they our top pick, but they also offer no-contract delivery for their tasty treats!

I don’t think I saw a single person inside Plant Baked that was not completely addicted to the pastries from here. Their kouign amann is their signature pastry and it is to die for. Sure, they have so many other epic foods, but if you go here, please, please try this.
I am begging for you, as is your stomach. You won’t regret it!
Vegan Bakery Brooklyn
This list also holds two of the best vegan bakeries, and these two are found in Brooklyn. These are:
- Happy Zoe Vegan Bakery.
- Clementine Bakery.
Sure, you can also get others such as Brookln Whiskers, but having two of my favorites in Brooklyn was a massive relief. Sometimes you want a cake but also want to avoid Manhattan.

Which Is the Best Vegan Bakery In NYC?
I’m not sure I can choose which would be best. Happy Zoe Vegan Bakery is definitely very high up, but so are all the others on this list. It kind of depends on what kind of baked goods you are hankering for.
For me, I’ll never get that Bleu Neige Vegan Patisserie cake out of my head… and my heart.
