Lemon water is a great way to start your day. Not only does it taste nice, and frankly, better than plain water, but it has many benefits too!
Lemon helps in many ways, aiding digestion, aiding hydration, great for weight loss, high in vitamin C, and potassium, and preventing kidney stones!
Lemon water could be your ticket to feeling more ready to go in the mornings. But, let’s take a full look into how a lemon water detox can help you feel altogether better.
Does Lemon Water Detox Your Body?
Lemons are natural antioxidants. However, technically your body should be naturally detoxing you through the breakdown and release of toxins in the liver, releasing them through your kidneys and then your urine.
However, not everyone is built the same, and for some people, a detox can help their bodies get the detox train on track.
Lemons are antioxidants by nature, and therefore, lemon water is a good choice. Rather than just straight-up biting into a lemon (ouch?) you can enjoy a refreshing beverage in the morning to kick-start your detoxification for the day.
Is Lemon Water Good For Your Liver?
For some people, natural detoxing is not enough, especially for people who have had a very ‘alcohol-fueled’ lifestyle. Alcohol will affect the liver and at some point, the body cannot manage this on its own.
Lemon water can help your liver. Science states that the liver can actually produce more enzymes when lemon is introduced than with other food items. These enzymes are needed for multiple chemical reactions in our bodies.
No one can’t say for sure lemon juice will cleanse liver problems, but a lemon juice liver detox can actually be highly beneficial for some people. I certainly know someone who needs this, do you?
Does Lemon Water Detox Your Liver?
Yes, it does, however, your body should do this on its own, but this is not the case for everyone. If your liver becomes impaired, then your liver won’t detox all on its own. This can accumulate fat, which leads to fatty liver disease.
When this is the case, sometimes a detox is useful, it won’t necessarily fix the problem, or return it to what it was prior to the disease, but it may help in preventing it from worsening, and you may feel some signs of improvement.
However, if you do have fatty liver disease, you should probably see your doctor about it. However, there is absolutely no harm in drinking lemon water on the side of medical treatment. Lemons are good for you (in moderation) anyway.
Lemon Juice Liver Detox
A liver detox is ideal for many people, in some it may not have a massive effect, but in others it might.
Lemons are very high in antioxidants and vitamin C, both help to produce glutathione, which is the enzyme that the liver uses to neutralize and eliminate toxins inside your liver.
A single squeeze drunk 2 or 3 times per day can be just right.
Now, I’m not saying that it’s a fix for fatty liver disease, but if your liver is not functioning at full capacity, lemons can give it a helping hand, and considering lemons are so cheap, why wouldn’t you try this out?
How Long To Detox Liver With Lemon Water
Provided that you are eliminating any habits that could worsen any liver problems, using a lemon detox diet should be ideal for 1 to 2 weeks, even if this is all you consume, which is the general idea with a detox.
Detoxing usually means you remove all other things from your diet. Ingesting only lemon for 1 or 2 weeks is the prime time. However, you can make your own judgment on this. A week should be enough for it to have the desired effect, 2 weeks may be required for some people though.

How To Make Lemon Water Detox
Here is my own recipe for the perfect lemon water detox. Tastes so good, you won’t get bored with it!

Lemon Water Detox Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups/500ml of cold water
- 4 lemons
- 1 thumb of ginger around 1 inch
- 2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup if vegan
Instructions
- Slice 2 of the lemons. Juice the other 2.
- Slice the ginger thinly.
- Combine all the ingredients into the big jug and mix for 10 seconds.
- Put the jug in the fridge and let it sit there for an hour before consumption.
Summary:
I always have one of these jugs in the fridge. There is always a jug in the fridge ready to go. You can take some in your water bottle at the gym or your walk.
I must drink a cup of that at least 4-5 times a week.
I noticed that when I started drinking that lemon ginger water, I started getting a cold a lot less than I usually did. This drink really boosts your immune system.
Make yourself a jug of that, it comes out in seconds, and enjoy the benefits!
