Is 5 pounds noticeable weight gain, perhaps you have been over-indulging in the last couple of weeks, and you are worried that it’s going to show?

For some people weight gain is a cause of great stress and concern, for others weight gain is a moment of celebration.

We all have our reasons to lose, maintain or gain weight.

I will speak of personal experience here. Weight gain used to be a great concern of mine. I used to weigh myself almost every day, and even the slightest increase on that scale would freak me out.

For people who have eating disorders or body dysphoria, anything related to weight and food would be a cause of stress.
I know because I have been there.

The answer is no. The problem with why you are asking these questions is the fact that you are thinking about this too much. Perhaps you have spent too much time looking in the mirror and noticing everything.

The truth is, when someone looks at you, they don’t inspect you bit by bit to look exactly where you might have gained weight, or whether you have gained weight. They will just, well – look at you.

5 pounds isn’t as much as you think. The human body can take a lot. Remember, when you gain weight, typically it would be distributed quite evenly. We are talking hands, stomach, legs, chest, face, bum – it’s gonna go all over the place unless you have a certain type of genetics, where you can most of your weight in certain areas.

This will vary, for example, if you are tall, the weight you put on would be less noticeable. Or, if you are short, the weight tends to be more visible.

If you are skinny, the weight you put in may be more visible due to the need of your body to fill in the gaps with weight.

Typically, I would say that 7-10 pounds will be noticeable.

Let’s say you are going on a 1-2 week vacation and you are planning on indulging. Will it be visible after that?
It may very well be. It all depends on how much you eat. You will need to be consuming a lot more calories than you burn in order to achieve that quick weight gain.

If you are someone who is skinny and looking to builk up quickly, you can do that, but as mentioned above, you will need to consume a lot of calories.

Also, quick weight gain isn’t recommended, just as quick weight loss, nothing should be rushed, especially when it comes to your body and health.

If you are looking at gaining weight intentionally, 5 pounds isn’t as much as you think.
As I mentioned above, 5 pounds isn’t going to be enough to have a really visible weight gain.

You may wanna gain some more weight until you see noticeable changes.

It can take a bit of time. Remember, a pound of fat has 3,500 calories.
Let’s take an average woman, she will need to consume roughly 2000 calories a day to maintain her weight.
In order to gain weight.

So, if you want to gain  1 pound you will need to consume 457 more calories a day for 7 days. So, 2457 calories would need to be your dairy intake to gain 1 pound per week.

Can You Put On 5 Pounds In a Day?

It’s nearly impossible to do that, even if you go on a wild binge all day.
Even if you are heavier the next day after a big feast the day before, most of it would be due to water retention and your body still breaking down the food.

Will One Cheat Day Make Me Gain Weight?

No, it won’t make you gain weight, if you step on the scale the day after a cheat day, you may notice an increase in weight, but that’s nothing to worry about since this would be mainly due to water retention.

One cheat day is nothing to worry about. Just make sure it’s not a regular thing, and you will be fine.

Is Gaining 5 Pounds Normal?

If you gain weight without trying there are a couple of things that could be happening:

A. You have a medical condition. Unexplained weight gain can be a sign of a medical condition. You may wanna book a trip to the doctor.

B. You have been eating more than you think recently. Maybe you went on a vacation? The calories often sneak in without you even realizing it. Take a look at your diet.

Does 5 LBS Make a Difference?

If you are trying to lose weight, any weight you lose will make a difference. Celebrate the little wins!
People tend to get too focused on the end goal “Oh I need to lose 20 pounds, I have only lost 1” celebrate that 1 pound!!! Celebrate that 5 lbs you have lost, that will make your weight loss journey a lot more enjoyable.

Whether you are trying to gain 5 pounds or to lose 5 pounds, the difference won’t be very noticeable.
If you have recently gained an unwanted 5 pounds, do not panic, it won’t be as noticeable as you may think!

So, relax, and just enjoy life, your weight will fluctuate, and that’s normal.
