Is Sprite Vegan – let’s find out today and see if this worldwide famous beverage is vegan friendly.
I am not gonna lie, I do like a soft drink every other day. And my choice is often Sprite.
I generally tend to stay away from soft drinks, as my digestive system doesn’t like them very much, but man, they are just so good. Especially cold, straight out of the fridge with some ice.
However, we are here to find out whether or not Sprite is vegan, not how good it tastes, right?
So let’s get on with it then!
Is Sprite Vegan?
Yes, Sprite is vegan. It contains vegan-friendly ingredients, making it suitable for vegans.
You can safely pour yourself a glass of sprite and enjoy it as part of your vegan diet.
Obviously, sprite might not be the healthiest drink out there, containing a whooping 31g of sugar per a small cup (16 fl/346g) – but, saying that, a slice of vegan cake contains roughly the same – what matters is, that they are both vegan!
Is Sprite Tested On Animals? Is Sprite Cruelty-Free?
Good news, Sprite is cruelty-free and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise.
I would like to note though, that Sprite obviously uses plastic for its packaging, this doesn’t make it non-vegan, but if you are a vegan for the environment, as well as the love of animals, you may want to stay clear of Sprite.
On a more positive note, Sprite does use a recyclable plastic though.
Does Sprite Export From China?
Why does this matter? China has a mandatory requirement for all products to be tested on animals before being sold to the public.
So, where is Sprite manufactured then? – Germany!
It’s worth noting that Coca-Cola owns the rights of Sprite trademark, since the 1940s.
What Soft Drinks Aren’t Vegan, Though?
- Lilt Zero
- Kia-Ora Orange Squash No Added Sugar
- Schweppes Indian Tonic Water
- Schweppes Orange Squash
- Honest (Lemon and Honey)
- Glaceau Vitaminwater Zero Sunshine and Multi V
I tend to stay clear from these. Having Sprite and Coca Cola is enough for me in terms of soft drinks.
Summary – So, Sprite Is Vegan!
It’s good news, isn’t it! You can drink Sprite without any worry going forward as part of your vegan diet.
Another thing that we found is that Sprite is not exported from China, and it is also cruelty-free, so the whole package….almost!
I did mention that Sprite does still use plastic, but they are making changes for the better. Their plastic is 100% recyclable.
