Quick Vegan Pastry

You can make this Quick Vegan Pastry with just a couple of store-bought cupboard ingredients. You can make this cheap and Quick Vegan Pastry in no time!
It might be a bit crumbly to work with, so try not to overwork the gluten!

This Recipe Makes 1 x 18cm/7in flan case (approximately 250g pastry)


300g of plain flour, plus extra for rolling

10 Tablespoons of cold water

½ teaspoon of fine sea salt

80ml of sunflower oil


Preheat the oven to 200C.
1. Mix the flour and salt together in a large bowl. Add the sunflower oil to the bowl and rub into the flour using your fingertips, until the mixture resembles rough breadcrumbs.

2. Add 10 tablespoons of cold water and mix with a spoon until the dough comes together to form a ball. Wrap in cling film, and put in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

3. Very lightly dust a work surface with flour. Dust a rolling pin with a little more flour, then roll out the dough until it forms a circle, roughly 20cm/8in in diameter.
Cut your desired shapes, or line a flan tin!
