Asheville Carolina has been blessed with PETA saying it is one of the best small cities for vegans in the US. But, most of us will take things that PETA says with a pinch of salt won’t we?
We have to find out for ourselves. Unless you’re from Asheville, you may have never even heard of this place before, but, the truth is PETA may have actually been onto something when they gave Asheville that rating you know?
I decided to take the trip and give the town a taste, after my recent trip to New York, and you know what, I think PETA underplayed it because ASHEVILLE IS AWESOME!
So, let’s review the restaurants that stole my heart, salivated my soul, and sang me into the coziest food coma there is!
Maybe we should all just move to Asheville? Just a thought…
Best Vegan Restaurants In Asheville NC
Let’s start with the obvious, my number 1 restaurant. It has to be ‘Plant Is Food’. It was kind of obvious they were all about the veggies from their name, but let’s check them out a bit more…

Wed, Thur, Sun: 5pm-9pm,
Fri-Sat: 5pm – 10pm.

Plant Is Food ensures that all their food is made from scratch and full of flavor. All ingredients are plant-based as you would guess, but every dish has a multicultural influence, featuring spices, vegetables, and techniques that inspire people to eat and make amazing foods.
What’s good? Well… I am a big fan of ramen so their total ramen is a great choice for me, but I would recommend you try the Hazelnut and Ramp Crusted Tempeh.
Vegan Breakfast Asheville
If you need a great vegan breakfast before you head off for a very busy day at work Green Sage Cafe is the place to go, but what’s great about it is that they have 3 locations in Asheville, so if you have a meeting which is halfway across town, you are fine, there will be one closer to the meeting!
Address: 5 Broadway St, Asheville, North Carolina. 633 Merrimon Ave, Ste A, Asheville, North Carolina. 1800 Hendersonville Rd, Asheville, North Carolina.

Test out their cold pressed ‘Heart Beat’ to drink and enjoy an Avo Lox for your breakfast. For lunch try their Havana Bowl to really make your tummy happy!
Best Vegan Pizza Asheville
My blood is coffee and my body is pizza, but it isn’t half hard to try and find a decent vegan pizza these days. Good news though. I found one! While the whole menu is not vegan, they have a specialized vegan menu.

You can enjoy a vegan pie, salad, hoagie, and pretzel if you want from their vegan menu.Or you could build your own pie or pizza. Just make sure to ask for the vegan cheese! They have so many toppings to choose from as well, you are spoiled for choice!
Asheville Restaurants With Vegan Options
While it is more like a bar, with endless cocktails and mead, cider, and more available. There is a menu here at Rosetta’s Kitchen Buchi Bar. But while you try out some unique and tasty beverages why not enjoy a nice vegan snack or two?
Address: Downtown Location, 68 N. Lexington Ave, Asheville, NC 28801
Tues- Sun: 12pm – 9pm.
Sometimes you just want to hang out, have a few drinks, and not worry about being able to have something off the menu. Here enjoy the Vegan Queso basket or the Buffalo Basket, which is 100% worth it if you want to get your taste buds on a homemade vegan ranch!
Organic Vegan Vegetarian Restaurants In Asheville, NC
Laughing seed is vegetarian, with plenty of vegan food to enjoy. What I loved about this place was its vibe, and how much it offered. There was plenty to choose from and they cater to literally everyone!
Address: 40 Wall Street, Asheville, NC 28801
Thur- Mon: 11:30am-9pm
CLOSED on TUES & WED
I still have flashbacks about their mushroom shawarma appetizer, their southwestern fries, and their dragon bowl. When you pair those three with their Mango Lassi smoothie or their Red Cure pressed juice you have found heaven.
Raw Vegan Restaurants In Asheville, NC
This place is just about juice, but sometimes that is all you need to get you through the day.
Mon- Sun: 9am – 4pm.
They offer food as well, but their juices are too good, their Morning Dew paired with a Chickpea Cesar Salad is all you need to stay energized.
Is Asheville Good For Vegans?
Asheville is one of the best places for vegans. PETA rated Asheville in 1st position for the top 10 vegan-friendly small cities in the USA back in 2020, and it is still living up to that name with over 110 vegan-friendly restaurants!
If you live in Asheville, or you are visiting, definitely try some of the places I have listed above. You will have a great time, and eat plenty of delicious vegan food!
It really doesn’t matter where you live/ or you visit, if you are visiting Indianapolis, or you are visiting Madison Wi, there are plenty of vegan options these days!
