Easy Homemade Hemp Butter

How to make Easy Homemade Hemp Butter – it’s a lot easier than you think!
I did an experiment the other day, I thought to myself “Can I treat hemp seeds the same way I treat nuts to make butter?” So, I put it to the test. Technically, it should work, due to the high-fat content in both nuts and hemp seeds. Essentially, the way nut butter is made is by blitzing nuts until the fat separates from the nuts and everything becomes creamy. The same method was applied with making this hemp butter, blitz, and the fat separated from the hemp seeds and it worked. In fact, it worked much better, it was much quicker.

Making hemp butter can be great if you are allergic to nuts, or just want to incorporate more of that superfood into your diet. You can spread it on your morning toast, use it in smoothies, in desserts, the options are endless.

Hemp Seed Butter Benefits:

The benefits are so many! They are high in protein, heart-healthy fat, omega 3s, and omega 6s. They have antioxidant effects and may reduce symptoms of numerous ailments, improving the health of the heart, skin, and joints.
Hemp seeds are a complete source of protein, meaning that they provide all nine essential amino acids.

Hemp seeds contain an amazing array of vitamins and minerals and are especially rich in:

  • vitamin E
  • magnesium
  • phosphorous
  • potassium

They are also a good source of iron, zinc, and B vitamins, including:

  • niacin
  • riboflavin
  • thiamine
  • vitamin B-6
  • folate

How To Make Hemp Butter:

You will need 1 and only ingredient:

1. Shelled Hemp Seed Hearts

The method couldn’t be more simple, the hemp seeds are added to a food processor or a blender, but the blender has to be of good quality, like Vitamix.
Then they are blitzed for about 5-10 minutes, scraping off the sides every so often. The seeds should turn creamy and spreadable.
Job done!

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cup/400g of shelled hemp seed hearts

Instructions
 

  • The hemp seeds are added to a food processor or a blender, but the blender has to be of good quality, like Vitamix.
  • Then they are blitzed for about 5-10 minutes, scraping off the sides every so often.
  • The seeds should turn creamy and spreadable.
  • Pour the mix into a jar.

Notes

Store the hemp butter nicely sealed in the fridge and consume it within a couple of weeks.
1 serving = 1 tbsp.
